Even though I've been reading comics since I was in first grade, I'd never gone to a comic book convention before my friend, former film actor Gary Lockwood, invited me to road trip across the desert and experience Phoenix Comicon 2010. I'd just completed a long laborious project at work, so escaping into a world of super heroes, science fiction, horror films, and other art sounded like a good idea to me.
