The wide range of artistic material associated with 2001 bears witness not only to its breadth but also to its depth of appeal. In addition to the film itself, and despite Kubrick's policy of destroying such background material, there is a good deal of surviving artwork from the production, and even an alternative soundtrack. Beyond this is a wealth of artwork prepared by fans of the film in an attempt to capture some if its magic.
