Collectibles & Memorabilia
The concept of the commercial tie-in for movies did not exist for 2001 as it would for Star Trek, and the marketing juggernaut Star Wars, in the 1970's. However, with patience, and the passing of 35 years a substantial array of collectibles may now be presented in these web pages.
Most are in the form of the printed page (see headings above for more). But through the intrepid efforts of devotees over the years, we can now enjoy the model kits and spacesuits for action figures, etc. which we so longingly wanted as kids growing up.
We would like thank those who've participated in offering their collections to be reproduced here in these pages. (Any who would still like to contribute are welcomed to do so.)
So enjoy this "library of odysseys past," whether you're taking a trip down memory lane, or are seriously researching one of the greatest cultural icons of the last half of the 20th Century (and continuing into the now 21st Century).
If you like to contribute an image, scan specifications for each image (.jpeg format with 16 M colors) should fit onto a screen without scrolling, e.g. a maximum width of 1.024 or a maximum height of 768 pixels (to match the most popular screen resolution). Maximum file size of 100 - 150 KB should also apply and is still acceptable for users with 56 K modem connections. Image size and file sizes are parameters that can easily be checked by everybody which should make this a clear and convenient guideline. If your item is much larger than your flatbed scanner, then digital camera is acceptable as long as there is clarity to the image. If you can't edit your image. You can e-mail your images to webmaster@2001exhibit.org or send your images on CD-ROM (Mac/PC Format) to P. O. Box 104, Moffett Field, CA 94035.
