The Federal Personnel Payroll System
On August 8, 2004, NASA will adopt a new system for processing personnel actions and payroll. The new system, the Federal Personnel/Payroll System (FPPS), is operated by the Department of Interiorís National Business Center (DOI-NBC). The project to switch systems is one of the e-Government (e-Gov) initiatives outlined in the Presidentís Management Agenda.
FPPS will automate personnel and payroll procedures for all NASA centers. It also will allow managers to track personnel actions and access employee data online. The change will be largely invisible to NASA employees; however, the formatting and delivery of employeesí Leave and Earnings Statements will change.
