Science And Technology: Timeline

Timeline is the history of Arthur C. Clarke's fictional future of the 2001 book series including Kubrick's 2001 screenplay, spanning BC 4 million years to the year 3001.

Although the Space Odyssey books was never intended to be consistent, Director Peter Hyams ask Arthur C. Clarke, while writing the script for 2010, "What year was TMA-1 found on the moon and I want to do it chronologically. I am assuming the Discovery flight was during the year 2001." Arthur tells Peter, "I was careful not to be too specific about dates so you can do what you like as long as it's self-consistent. But I assumed that the Discovery of TMA-1 was in 2001 and the mission a couple of years later."
