Summary about Wonderfest 2008
By Christopher Dalton
WonderFest is a weekend of hobby escape thatís held every summer in Louisville, Kentucky. It features movie special effects guests, actors, the largest model contest in the U.S. for sci-fi, horror & comics-related subjects, model and toy dealers galore, and seminars to entertain and improve hobbyists of all ages.

Held at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center (which is right across from Louisville International Airport) this year's event held a special theme. The 40th Anniversary of the 1968 MGM/Stanley Kubrick science fiction classic 2001: A Space Odyssey. To honor and celebrate the anniversary of this milestone cinematic event, the lead actors from the film, Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood, were the special guests. Aside from signing autographs and chatting with fans, both Keir and Gary held a special Q & A session for fans of the film, science fiction, Stanley Kubrick, and Arthur C. Clarke in general.
As to my participation in the event, I was just your average guest. This was the first WonderFest I had ever attended. Turns out, some people I knew were serving as guest relations at this event. One of them was a friend of mine who knew that I was a huge fan of the film and its wonderful sequels. My friend managed to pull some strings with the people who ran the convention, in order for me to hang out with both Keir and Gary. The rest was history.
