  • 2001 - A Dance Odyssey: A Viennese Waltz Ball in Space

    Travel back to the future the way it used to be at PEERS' annual Science Fiction Ball in Space, inspired by the style of Stanley Kubrick's classic 2001: A Space Odyssey. The Divertimento Dance Orchestra will play a varied program of Viennese Waltz music (including The Blue Danube) polkas, 19th century set dances and modern ballroom dances, including Swing, tangos, fox trots, and even some Classic Rock. All set dances will be taught or called.

    Suggested costume: Futuristic evening dress, science fiction-inspired costume, retro 1960's or 70's attire, or modern evening dress. Suggested sources of inspiration: such '60's and 70's science fiction and science fantasy classics as 2001: A Space Odyssey, Barbarella, early Star Trek, and, of course, Star Wars.

    Guests can also enjoy complimentary hors d'oeuvres, and an intergalactic no host bar.
