| UPDATE - May 21, 2001: Greetings from Dennis Gonzales 33 years later.
There are four people I admire for their open mindedness, courage and achievements, Sir Arthur C. Clarke, Dennis Tito, Brian Walker, and Dr. Greer. Read "Other 2001 news" about these men below this newsletter. I recently was told via AMK list that "2001" will not be re-released. I contacted Warner Brothers office about this news. Warner Brothers told me that they are still planning to re-release the film in theaters in Oct. and on DVD. More about that next newsletter. Dr. David Stork's lecture at The Tech Museum last Saturday, May 12 was fabulous. The lecture, "HAL 9000 computer and the vision of '2001: A Space Odyssey" was situated next to "2001:DESTINATION SPACE" exhibit. His presentation outlined from his book, "HAL's Legacy: 2001's computer as dream and reality" with a video from "2001". Dr. David Stork's PBS special, "HAL's Legacy" has been pushed to September, for further information about "HAL's Legacy", visit Dr. Stork's web site at http://sucia.stanford.edu/~stork/HALTalks.html Speaking of "2001:DESTINATION SPACE", two props have been removed temporarily by collector Dennis Gilliam but a new prop has been added by Scott Alexander. You may now see the 11-foot Discovery One model next to the floating TMA-2 at the Tech Museum. For more details about 11-foot Discovery One, visit the model section at http://www.2001Exhibit.org/scott_discovery.html And new features on our site this week is our Space Pod that is currently being displayed at "2001:DESTINATION SPACE". Visit the model section at http://www.2001Exhibit.org/spacepod.html. We honor Fashion Designer Sir Hardy Amies at http://www.2001Exhibit.org/amies.html And learn all about Costume Designer Andrea Edelman who created the Amies reproduction costume, Space Station Five Female Uniform at http://www.2001Exhibit.org/edelman.html You can also see and BUY this costume at http://www.2001Exhibit.org/2001_costume.html New postcards have been added in the Invite Card section http://www.2001exhibit.org/cards/load.cgi I've also added a personal photo album of my visit to the Tech museum; you can access this album at http://y42.briefcase.yahoo.com/elusive94401/ Special announcement, if you have a HAL 9000 model kit you like displayed on our web site, please send your pictures or the model itself for a photo shoot. Your pictures have to be high quality jpeg's or send me your photos by snail mail with a bio and "how to build" story. The deadline is mid-June. We now have 3, visit http://www.2001exhibit.org/arts/models/hal_main.html Wally Fields has updated his web site on the "Year 2001 Compliant" project with new pictures. His trip to the Trona Pinnacles, in the Mohave Desert Jan. 1, was fantastic! Visit his site at http://www.wallys.com/year2001.htm. We hope to have some QuickTime movies next month on our site. If you have any news about the world of "2001", email me your information at webmaster@2001exhibit.org. Other "2001" news "2001:DESTINATION SPACE" has an exhibit component that visitors can experience real docking simulation like the Pan Am docking sequence with the Space Station 5 in "2001". Read more about this software at NASA Ames Research Center. Posted by Dennis Gonzales TMA-2? Is it possible? Do we really have Sentinels waiting for us? The way things are going with the slow delay for a space manned mission to the planets, we may never know the possibilities what this article suggest; Posted by Dennis Gonzales Life on Mars? Speaking of possibilities, perhaps "2001" has really arrived in 2001. Recently, Sir Arthur C. Clarke makes his hypothetical observation about life on Mars. You can't question Sir Clarke because he wrote the book about life on other worlds. While NASA is deciding about releasing 3-D, high-resolution images of the mystery of Cydonia this month, who knows? This may be the year for "2001" and Clarke. Posted by Dennis Gonzales Brian Walker will become the first citizen to conquer space on his homemade rocket ship one year from now. This is stuff from a Ray Bradbury story. Brain Walker said that he had hoped we would had conquered space by now, as shown in the film, "2001: a space odyssey". Since NASA and other space industry has not lived up to the future of "2001", Brian realize long ago that his dream to fly in space by the year 2001 was not going happen. So it's up men like Brian to do it himself. Visit his web site, Rocket Guy. Posted by Dennis Gonzales Bureaucracy and TMA-1? I've followed Dr. Greer's research for more than two years when he asked his local news reporters to contact me about a fantastic story that was told to me, which changed my view of the world and my main reason to pursue a large "2001" exhibition. Now it's full circle. Dr. Greer's project "Disclosure Project" has perked ears and opened eyes all over the world since his official announcement on May 9 in Washington DC. Dr. Greer quest for the truth for many years has tracked down credible witnesses about crashed extraterrestrial space vehicles and their occupants. The witnesses are not only working for all levels of government and the "aerospace" industry but he has obtained evidence and paper trails to pursue convincing scientific evidence of withheld information to the American public. My story will remain private because it's not my story but learn more about this project by visiting the following web sites. Posted by Dennis Gonzales. Posted by: Dennis Gonzales 2001: Exhibit |
