May 1, 2002:

Greetings from Dennis Gonzales

This past week has been incredible for space exploration and space politics. From space tourist to spectacular pictures of the universe read our postings below this email.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO ALL ARTISTS PART 2:

ecently, Discovery Communications, whose cable channels include Discovery, The Travel Channel, TLC, Animal Planet and BBC America, has said it's likely to eliminate end credits within the next month. Discovery says it will direct viewers who want to see them to a Web site.
This action will obviously cause a ripple affect through the television industry and I for one see no benefit in deleting credits. I apologize for the bad link last week but found the proper link to a new rebuttal by Marvin Kitman, April 28, 2002.

    This article appeared in Newsday:

If you need to search newsday.com page incase you have problems looking at the article, go to:

Our local "2001" collector, Mark Blunck sends us his opinion about the credit issue:

    To all noted,
I also read the article on eliminating screen credits.
While the writer below stated his comments in a very
articulate manner and should at least get the networks
to think about their decision, there is a more blunt
    way to put it.

These networks are run by greedy corporate a--holes!
    Plain and simple.

    Mark E. Blunck

This past week I experience sad news in my family about ‘cancer’, so I am now behind the work I am doing on the web site and hopefully will continue this weekend. We hope to post new fantastic pictures soon taken by Mark Watson.
To all fans, if you have "2001/2010" news to report to the World Tonight, please send them to me! Until then…

    See you next Wednesday (Frank).

I’m looking for talented model makers and digital artists to help me design and build spaceships and other technology from Sir Arthur C. Clarke’s "2061" and "3001" books. The request is part of my campaign to convince moviemakers the importance of bringing the books to the big screen. And using this website is a palette in behalf of Sir Arthur C. Clarke. For more information, please contact me.

THE WEBBY AWARDS REPORT: 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY COLLECTIBLES EXHIBIT.
The Webby Awards review is over and we were not picking for this years award competition. This doesn’t mean we’ve given up, we are now working on the website for the next design version, which will be fantastic!

As you know, the Webby Awards is about recognizing websites with good content in a category. Since we are non-profit, the fee is 95.00 to enter the event and we are asking 5.00 per mailing list member to send to us to cover costs if they want to. So far we’ve raised 45.00. We’ve been given an extension to apply but the organizers have given the "2001" Exhibit.Org a place for the awards without fee for the time being.
For details about the awards, visit http://www.webbyawards.com

My address is, Dennis Gonzales, 82 N. Ellsworth Ave. #B, San Mateo CA 94401. Donors will be noted on the special page or anonymously.
    We also offer PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/xclick/business=webmaster%402001exhibit.org
