May 8, 2002:

Greetings from Dennis Gonzales

TCone Nebula, Omega Nebula, Coma Nebula, and colliding constellations are many of the fantastic pictures from Hubble’s latest discoveries. Also South African space tourist Mark Shuttleworth is back on Earth after a trip to the International Space Station. And it looks like ‘Space Odyssey’ spaceplanes will be in our near future where the next space shuttles may take off like planes. Read all this exciting space news below our newsletter.

    Website Update:
Exhibitor coordinator and model maker, Jean Marc Deschamps "2001: A Space Odyssey" exhibition was held at the Euro Space Center, Belgium, from October 27 to January 6, 2002. Included in the exhibit pages is his recent event, "HOLLYWOOD SOUCUPES" at the Air Museeum Bourget, France, February 2002. HOLLYWOOD SOUCUPES is a look at the UFOlogy and UFO pop-culture:

The May World Tonight news updated in our Press section:
    http://www.2001exhibit.org/press/2002news_may.html

The past few years, I’ve received many pictures, technical drawings and film resources on HAL from many "2001" fans. I’ve even managed to get the real HAL to the Tech Museum for all to enjoy. Since I’ve been involved with the exhibition campaign, I noticed through my email and phone calls that HAL is the most celebrated movie icon from "2001" and perhaps film history in every topic. He over shadows the Monolith by light years, which I do not understand. To me, HAL is just calculator compare to the mysterious black monolith but yet he is the focus of many movie reviews and chat rooms.
I’ve combined all fan resources for new HAL blue prints in the science section. The plans are purely fictional since we will really never know for sure the true details from the movie prop but it’s all for fun:

Two weekends ago, I experience a family crises which set me back from my plans like the Dr. Greer talk at the New Age Expo in San Francisco and updating the technical blueprints on the website. I’m back on track and hope to continue the work I started over a month ago with many of the "2001/2010" fans.
If you have "2001/2010" news to report to the World Tonight, please send them to me! Until then…

    See you next Wednesday (Frank).

I’m looking for talented model makers and digital artists to help me design and build spaceships and other technology from Sir Arthur C. Clarke’s "2061" and "3001" books. The request is part of my campaign to convince moviemakers the importance of bringing the books to the big screen. And using this website is a palette in behalf of Sir Arthur C. Clarke. For more information, please contact me.

THE WEBBY AWARDS REPORT: 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY COLLECTIBLES EXHIBIT.
The Webby Awards review is over and we were not picking for this years award competition. This doesn’t mean we’ve given up, we are now working on the website for the next design version, which will be fantastic!

As you know, the Webby Awards is about recognizing websites with good content in a category. Since we are non-profit, the fee is 95.00 to enter the event and we are asking 5.00 per mailing list member to send to us to cover costs if they want to. So far we’ve raised 45.00. We’ve been given an extension to apply but the organizers have given the "2001" Exhibit.Org a place for the awards without fee for the time being.
For details about the awards, visit http://www.webbyawards.com

My address is, Dennis Gonzales, 82 N. Ellsworth Ave. #B, San Mateo CA 94401. Donors will be noted on the special page or anonymously.
