Sep 4, 2002:

Greetings from Dennis Gonzales

I took August off from the newsletter because of the Flash work in the blueprint category of the Technology & Science section is still in the works and I’ve been burning the midnight oil at NASA on some websites. But this week, we’ve updated the site because you, the fans have been sending me "Space Odyssey" related news for the World Tonight and we have more old/new photos to share with you.
Speaking of NASA, one year ago this past month, I was invited by the Kennedy Space Center to watch the STS-105 lift-off successfully into orbit. To relive that moment in space history, visit my Introduction section: http://www.2001exhibit.org/intro/ksc.html
It was also one year ago on September 8, that the "2001: Destination Space" exhibit ended it's 8-month run at the Tech Museum of Innovation. To relive that historic dedication to space artist Robert T. McCall, director Stanley Kubrick and science fiction writer Sir Arthur C. Clarke, visit our on-line exhibit: http://www.2001exhibit.org/exhibits/usa3/exhibit.html
American pop-artist, Lance Bass from the singing group 'N Sync is preparing for his trip to the ISS with the Russians. The idea for the pop artist is that he will inspire the next generation of explorers and he will be the youngest person to travel in space later this year. NASA has not annouced lift-off for STS-112.

    Website Updates:
Dana Lubich has updated his "2001" timeline in the science & technology section:
    http://www.2001exhibit.org/science/timeline2001.html
    or
    http://www.2001exhibit.org/science/timeline2ff.html
    or for non-frames:

IPIX.Com has given the "2001: A Space Odyssey Collectible Exhibits" website permission to post the International Space Station tour for our "2001: Destination Space" exhibit category in the exhibits section. iPIX is a way to view 360-degrees which makes you feel like you're inside the picture. The space station kiosk at the Tech Museum gave the visitor a virtual experience what is like on a real space station in the year 2001. I like to thank Stu Roberson from iPIX for helping us to share this remarkable technology for our visitors and relive the exhibition: http://www.2001exhibit.org/exhibits/usa3/exhibit20b.html

    "2001" TV/Movie Alert:
"2001" fan, Dana Lubich reports to the World Tonight a new TV commercial, "Here's a snippet for The World Tonight: The Scotch brand tape company has a new commercial on TV. It shows hundreds of scissors flying up into Earth orbit to the tune of The Blue Danube (I wonder if they ever fly over the Bank of America ATM "monoliths?")," says Dana.
And I’ve added a new alert but it’s our local bay area entertainment magazine, "The Wave" with HAL 9000 on the front page. Go to http://www.2001exhibit.org/arts/2001_film-tv_alert2.html
And "2001" fan, Terry Boblet reports to the World Tonight that "The Rerun Show" used "Married With Children" and "Space Odyssey" has the background theme for the episode "Married ... with Children: Weenie Tot Lovers & Other Strangers / Bewitched: A Bunny For Tabitha." Iím looking for talented model makers and digital artists to help me design and build spaceships and other technology from Sir Arthur C. Clarkeís "2061" and "3001" books. The request is part of my campaign to convince moviemakers the importance of bringing the books to the big screen. And using this website is a palette in behalf of Sir Arthur C. Clarke. For more information, please contact me.
