March 13, 2003:

Greetings from Dennis Gonzales

This week we have more new additions to the website from the fans!

During 2001, Robert K. Freeman, Sr. Engineer of the Science Applications International Corp., sent me his press releases about the ISDC 2001 conference which its theme was "2001: A Space Odyssey", so that we may reach out to the "2001" fans. He has given us permission to post his movies and PDF slide show of the event on our website in the "2001" events category:

    http://www.2001exhibit.org/press/2001_events.html

    Or

    http://www.2001exhibit.org/press/2001_isdc.html

This year, ISDC will be at the San Jose convention center, directly across from the Tech Museum of Innovation, where we had our 2001 exhibit two years ago. For further information about ISDC, go to their website at http://www.nsschapters.org/isdc/2003/

    "2001" Art:
"2001" Peter Preuss, has submitted an article about European "2001" soundtracks and other soundtracks influenced by "2001" in the music category. Go to:

    http://www.2001exhibit.org/arts/music2.html

    Or

    And

    "2001" TV/Film Alert:
Yet – another "2001" Simpson episode. What does termites and Space:1999 have to do with the Simpsons? While termites invade the Simpson’s home, the Simpsons must seek a place to stay while their house is exterminated. The first friend they approach for help is Comic Book Man. His house is riddled with collectibles and he has a Space:1999 toy Eagle on his living room shelf.
What does Pierce Brosnan and HAL 9000 have in common? Another Simpson "2001" episode where they end up living in a house of the future controlled by a red-eye computer gone madly in love with Marge. The only way to defeat the computer who is actually Pierce Brosnan is to pull out his memory modules. Marge decides to send Pierce to Marge’s bad, bad sisters, ending the show with Pierce is trying to kill himself.

If you have anything about "2001/2010" or space news, report it to the World Tonight and I’ll give you special credit. Until then…

    See you next Wednesday (Frank).

Dana Lubich was doing some research for a current project, and he came across these great sites telling the history of the PicturePhone system which would have led to the one Floyd used on SS5 (including some current technologies to do so):
